Food and Beverage Steward

Serco Sodexo Defence Services is seeking suitably qualified and experienced people for a Food & Beverage Attendant based at HMAS Cairns.

General functions and tasks associated with the position are:

• Service of Food and Beverages - Steward Services, Formal Dining Service,  Bar Service, Wine waiter service and function support
• Washing and Storage of Glassware and Cutlery including Silver Service
• Cleaning requirements - general, public, all bar fittings and maintain to required standards
• Resetting of Dining Room
• Preparation of food and beverages
• Function preparation
• Recording meal entitlements attendance sheets or swipe cards
• Operate all facets of bar operation
• Assist and conduct bar stocktakes
• Conduct cellar duties
• Observer and adhere to all aspects of the OH&S & HACCP systems

Ideally we look for people with the following skills/attributes:

• Customer Focused with strong communication skills
• Confident, reliable and trustworthy
• Demonstrates Initiative and able to work undirected
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team
• A minimum of 2 years Hospitality Service or Bar Service
• Knowledge and understanding of Dining Room Service including Fine Dining A La Carte
• Knowledge of beer reticulation, wine and wine service - desirable
• Understanding of cellar duties
• Food and Beverage Course (Accredited) or Bar Supervision Certificate or equivalent
• Responsible Service of Alcohol Course
